Congratulations to Vipoo Srivilasa for being selected as a finalist in the 2026 Wynne Prize at the Art Gallery of New South Wales for his work:

'Guardian light', 2025

"A protector of hope, guiding us toward the light at the end of the tunnel, Guardian light brings small, bright stars into moments of darkness, offering comfort and quiet reassurance.

Drawing from my ongoing exploration of joy, care and emotional connection, this work stands as a guardian of hope, positive energy and dreams. It holds space for reflection and healing, reminding us that even in uncertain times, light is always present, waiting to be found."

Winner of the NGV's Rigg Prize 2025

Adelaide-based Aranda artist Alfred Lowe has won the NGV’s 2025 Rigg Design Prize, unanimously selected by the Prize jury for his impressive ceramic vessels titled "You and me, us never part", highlighting a new generation of Australian designers under 35.

"The Rigg Design Prize is Australia’s most prestigious accolade for contemporary design. Since its inception in 1994, this triennial prize exhibition has featured over one hundred designers across a range of disciplines, celebrating their creative achievements and providing a valuable platform for visibility, recognition and impact. For its landmark tenth edition in 2025, the $40,000 prize will be awarded to an early-career Australian design practice, drawing attention to the new generation of talent. Bringing together emerging designers, the exhibition spans ceramics, glass, furniture, woodwork, metalwork, textiles, lighting and contemporary jewellery, presenting ambitious works that reflect bold approaches to materiality, form and function.

Early-career practitioners play a crucial role in shaping Australia’s design ecosystem and culture. They bring bold ideas and fresh perspectives that challenge conventions and expand the possibilities of design and making. The Rigg Design Prize 2025 – Next in Design – recognises the energy, ingenuity and vision of emerging designers who are making important contributions to their fields."

Bern Emmerichs

Glover Prize 2025

Congratulations to Bern Emmerichs for being selected as a finalist in the 2025 Glover Prize for her work "Uprooted".

Emmerichs is one of 42 finalists representing the Judges' selection of the best artworks of the Tasmanian landscape.

The winner will be announced on Friday 7 March 2025 at the Official opening. The exhibition showcasing the 42 finalist artworks will be open to the public 8-16 March 2025 at the Falls Park Pavilion, Evandale, Tasmania.
